NEMO is a fully submersible thermal manikin system designed to operate underwater at depths of up to 10 feet (3 meters) for testing the thermal properties of dive suits, marine survival gear, and other protective garments made to perform in direct contact with water.
The NEMO manikin features a sealed and true-weight aluminum shell with waterproof joints and 21 independent thermal zones. The manikin is constructed with a weight balance that permits realistic floating for more accurate human simulations in an aquatic environment.
Marine survival situations are dangerous for humans, but NEMO makes it easy to evaluate and identify the highest performing protective materials and garment construction methods. The manikin features sealed joints with adjustable friction settings at the ankles, elbows, knees, and hips. These joints will maintain their watertight integrity in any pose. Multiple thermistor point sensors record the heat loss occurring in each thermal zone while the manikin’s ThermDAC control software generates real-time graphical displays and simultaneously logs test data.
