ASTM F3426
Standard Test Method for Measuring the Thermal Insulation of Clothing Items Using Heated Manikin Body Forms
This test method covers the determination of the thermal insulation value of clothing items that cover only the head, hand, or foot. It describes the measurement of the resistance to dry heat transfer from a heated manikin head, hand, or foot to a relatively calm, cool environment. This is a static test that provides a baseline clothing measurement, and the effects of body form position, movement, and contact with other surfaces are not addressed. It is similar if form and function to ASTM F1291which uses a full-body non-sweating manikin.
